These days, I don't really miss anything badly. Apart from the cool weather in May to Sept. Going to the football, of course. And decent beer. As Bleeding said, the world's a much smaller place now.

Proper pubs with real ale.

late summer evenings is the pub garden with the sun setting after 9pm.

Riding a motorcycle on decent country lanes with a lack of shit caged drivers.

Taking the dog for a walk (not on tarmac) to the pub.

Going to a proper football match.

Decent choice of live music.

Decent choice of decent restaurants.

What waiting for 20 mins just to get some warm piss in a plastic glass?

I love a curry, like most, but there is an English bloke here who has employed an Indian chef in his bar and his curries are pretty good, like you get in the UK.

Thing is the worlds a smaller place now so living overseas today is not like it was years ago.

PD. C'mon mate, there must be something you miss? How about being at a West Ham v Spurs game, having a couple of pints pre game, a few more post game followed by an authentic Ruby Murray?

You must miss that lot surely?

I only thought woman came out with all this 'I miss' bollocks? Mind you this place is full of old tarts.

I don't miss shit.. As for fish and bloody chips, I had that when I was back last and it was rubbish, had much better overseas.

I'm reading this thread and people saying pubs, trains, boxing day etc.

Do you miss these every second of everyday or these itches that can be stretched on a week long visit home but you're ultimately happier where you've moved to over the UK?

Having to pull a bird rather than going down the bar and getting a prozzie in?

Re: Expats...What you miss most...???
there's a "Brit pub" not far from where I live, I don't go there very often but I popped in last week and there were two English guys at the bar bitching about health insurance, Obama, traffic in Las Vegas and 100 degree heat.

and where ever I've gone in the world I've managed to find these English people, miles from home in an English theme pub bitching about where they are.

very strange

Consider yourself lucky that you don't live in Flint.

You got that right! Flint is about an hour up I75 from where I am. My town's water supply comes from Lake Huron.

The thing I find most curious is the ex-pats who went to Spain because it had all the community spirit that had been lost in Britain.

Ie: Pubs, Street Markets and a resemblance of social conscience...with long-term families growing up together on a street

Not anymore because Spain has also followed the feral U.S masterplan...yet people continue to complain without being honest enough to make the connection

Just an observation from an Anglo-Spaniard/Portugeezer

:-)
